After spending a year treating patients in a typical insurance based physical therapy clinic, Ashley felt that there had to be a better way to take care of patients and treat pain. In 2014 he opened "Ashley Mak Physical Therapy" a cash based clinic focusing on CrossFit athletes in Hoboken, NJ.

In 2017, Ashley opened up Hudson River Fitness, a strength and conditioning facility and the home of his physical therapy clinic. Over the following years, Ashely treated over 300 patients with orthopedic and sports related injuries. He also earned credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Rocktape Rock Doc (Level 1 and 2), and served as adjunct professor at Kean University (NJ) teaching graduate students.

In 2019, Ashley moved to Marin County, CA with his wife. When the pandemic struck in 2020, Ashley, like many others, had to transition to online and virtual care. Ashley's expertise in sciatica and low back pain management led him to build the ifixyoursciatica.com platform as well as the #1 rated podcast for sciatica (Fix your sciatica podcast) on both Apple and Spotify.

Ashley currently serves Marin County residents through in person physical therapy (and personal training) and cares for residents throughout the world through virtual pain consultations.

Ashley believes that you can live a life free of pain. You just need to work with the right people to make it so.

In his free time, Ashley enjoys training jiujitsu, lifting weights, and playing video games. He received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Villanova University where he was part of the NCAA Division I men's swim team and earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in 2012.
